Affirmative Action Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote education in the Special Librarian field. Focus: Library and archival sciences; Information science and technology. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen; a member of a minority group defined as Black (African American), Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander, American Indian, Aleutian (Alaskan) native or native Hawaiian; and must be pursuing a graduate study in librarianship leading to a master's degree at a recognized school of library or information science. Criteria: Preference is given to applicants who display great interest in special library work.

Funds Avail.: $6,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must prepare an official transcript or letter of acceptance; three reference letters; statement of financial need; and an essay (500-1000 words). Deadline: September 30.

Remarks: Matriculated school applicants must submit an official transcript of library school record to date. Contact: [email protected].

Mary Adeline Conner Professional Development Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote education in the Special Librarian field. Focus: Library and archival sciences; Information science and technology. Qualif.: Applicant must be a member of the SLA with an M.L.S. degree and must have worked in a special library; accepted into a certificate or degree program at an accredited college/university or by a professional association/society. Criteria: Preference is given to applicants who display great interest in special library work.

Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) Scholarships (Doctorate, Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote education in the Special Librarian field. Focus: Library and archival sciences; Information science and technology. Qualif.: Applicant must be a member of SLA with working experience in a special library; and pursuing a graduate study leading to a PhD from a recognized program in library science, information science or related fields of study. Criteria: Preference is given to applicants who display great interest in special library work.

Plenum Scholarships (Doctorate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote education in the Special Librarian field. Focus: Library and archival sciences; Information science and technology. Qualif.: Applicant must be a member of the SLA with working experience in a special library; and a doctoral candidate with an approved dissertation topic enrolled in a course of study. Criteria: Preference is given to applicants who display great interest in special library work.

SLA Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote education in the Special Librarian field. Focus: Library and archival sciences. Qualif.: Applicant must be a college graduate or college senior with an interest in special librarianship.
