Malcolm U. Dantzler Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)
Purpose: To protect and promote personal, community and environmental health; to exercise leadership in health policy development and action; to foster scientific and professional development among its members. Focus: Public Health. Qualif.: Applicants must be current members in good standing of the South Carolina Public Health Association for at least the year in which the scholarship application is submitted; must be enrolled in a course of study leading to a degree in a health-related field; must have documentation of at least six hours of study remaining before graduation; must demonstrate great academic and professional promise; must achieve and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or better based on the 4.0 scale; must exhibit significant commitment to the public health profession through volunteer and/or professional activity such as involvement in community and scholarly activities and participation in related professional and/or student organizations. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance and demonstrated involvement in community activities.
Funds Avail.: $500. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form; must write a personal statement of 250 words or less about their career goals and professional aspirations; must include current official transcript of records; must include proof of hours remaining before graduation.
