Society of Women Engineers Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To help individuals achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders; to expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force improving the quality of life; to demonstrate the value of diversity. Focus: Engineering. Qualif.: Applicants must be incoming freshmen women who are accepted for enrollment in a baccalaureate ABET/CSAB accredited engineering or computer science degree program; must have a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale for freshmen applicants; must not be the current recipients of a renewable SWE Scholarship; must be full-time students; must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the US for some scholarships; and must not be receiving full funding for education from another organization. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing.
Funds Avail.: $400,000. To Apply: Applicants must fill out the online application form; send a current school stamp and signature official transcript from high school or where you have taken courses; a copy of letter of acceptance from ABET accredited college or university indicating acceptance into an engineering or computer science curriculum for the coming academic year; and two letters of recommendation of which one must be from a high school teacher and the other must be from a person who has known the applicant for two or more years and who is not a relative or member of the applicant's family.
