Fred Archibald Communications Internships (Undergraduate/Internship)

Purpose: To encourage the free practice of journalism and stimulate high standards of ethical behavior. Focus: Journalism. Qualif.: Applicants must be juniors or seniors pursuing a degree in journalism, marketing, communications or public relations at a college or university, or a recent college graduate; must be willing to relocate to Indianapolis for ten weeks if not a resident; must have writing and/or reporting experience; Should be able to manage multiple tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines; must have decision making, problem solving, and research skills; must possess ability to express ideas and opinions with willingness to take initiative and work cooperatively with others; must have proficient computer skills; must have strong work ethics and a positive attitude. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance.

Funds Avail.: $400 per week. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form and attach a cover letter, current resume, three to five writing samples and a one-page essay detailing their future goals and objectives. Contact: [email protected]

Pulliam/Kilgore Freedom of Information Internships (Undergraduate/Internship)

Purpose: To encourage the free practice of journalism and stimulate high standards of ethical behavior. Focus: Journalism. Qualif.: Applicants must be journalism students who are entering or just completing their senior year, graduate journalism students, or law students with a journalism background. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on strong background in writing and reporting and academic performance.

Funds Avail.: $400 per week. To Apply: Applicant must submit a completed application form along with resume and one-page essay that illustrates their understanding of Freedom of Information issues and what they expect to gain from the internship (not more than five writings). The Working Press Internships (Undergraduate/Internship)

Purpose: To encourage the free practice of journalism and stimulate high standards of ethical behavior. Focus: Journalism. Qualif.: Applicants must be student writers, photographers, and designers. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance.

Funds Avail.: $400 per week. Number Awarded: 12. To Apply: Applicant must submit two copies of the following: completed application form; a resume; three clips, lay-outs or published photos. Deadline: April 19. Contact: jskeel@ spj.org
