IAWP International Recognition and Scholarship Award (Professional Development/Scholarship)
Purpose: To increase the understanding about the roles of women officers in various countries; to encourage participation in the International Association of Women Police by all countries of the world; to promote membership through the recipient of this award within the region; to increase the understanding and awareness of women in law enforcement and the International Association of Women Police; and to recognize the accomplishments of a women officer from outside North America. Focus: Law enforcement. Qualif.: Applicants must be women and members of the police organization. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the pre-selected criteria including completeness of application, evidence of policing skills, interest in increasing awareness and understanding of the role of women in law enforcement, willingness to network, and ability to communicate with other conference attendees.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants
must submit personal information including the name, rank, assignment, police organization, and contact information; biography including education, employment history, and interest; a letter of support from the applicant’s senior officer or administrator indicating how long they have known the applicant and the basis of the recommendation; and a letter of application written by the applicant showing why they feel they can be a good candidate to receive the scholarship award.
