International Association of Black Actuaries Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarships among undergraduates or graduate level for qualified black students who are interested in pursuing actuarial careers. Focus: Actuarial science. Qualif.: Applicants must be permanent residents or U.S./Canadian citizens; must be admitted to college or university which offers either a program in actuarial science or courses that will serve to prepare the students for actuarial career; must have demonstrated mathematical ability an interest in an actuarial career; must have at least 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, a Math SAT score of at least 600 or an ACT Math score of at least 28; must have completed the calculus and probability courses; must be junior, senior or graduate students attempting or already passed the exam; must have completed or completing the validation by educational experience(VEE) requirements; must have determination, self-motivation, excellent recommendations from mathematics-related instructors and familiarity with an actuarial profession demands. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on broader math background, high GPA and Math SAT/ACT scores, merit and financial need.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed online application form, two nomination forms completed by instructors and/or advisors at educational institution, an official, sealed record of any educational examination scores, Student Aid Report (SAR) showing the financial date and a copy of college or university catalog or information sheet showing an estimated expenses.
