March, Werner
March, Werner (1894–1976). German architect, the son of Otto March. He designed in a powerful, stripped Neo-Classical style. He is remembered for his masterpiece, the impressive Olympiastadion (1934–6), grounds, and various buildings of the Reichssportfeld, Berlin, created for the 1936 Olympic Games from the earlier Deutsches Sportforum (1925–8), which March and his brother Walter had designed. He was the architect of Karinhall, in Prussia (1935–6), for Hermann Goering (1893–1946). He designed the Landeszentralbank, Münster, Westphalia (1949), and provided a plan for Wetzlar (1952).
