SIDELIGHTS:

Sally John told CA: "Real life greatly influences my fiction. I most often return to the theme of broken relationships and what happens when faith enters the picture. The power of forgiveness always plays a role as well.

"The majority of women readers I hear from tell me they connect with my stories because of the emotional impact they deliver. Heartstrings are tugged, tears and laughter ensue, sentiments are affirmed or challenged.

"I like to dig deeply. I like to propose the concept—through fiction—that there is something bigger going on here in the life than our senses alone can reveal to us. I like to suggest that God is real and that He does make a different in the here-and-now whenever we invite Him to do so.

"Authors who impact my life—and therefore my work—include Leanne Payne, Brennan Manning, Rob Bell, Annie Dillard, and Madeleine L'Engle."
