Reinmar (real name, Wochinz), Hans
Reinmar (real name, Wochinz), Hans, distinguished Austrian baritone; b. Vienna, April 11, 1895; d. Berlin, Feb. 7, 1961. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Music and in Milan. He made his operatic debut in 1919 in Olomouc as Sharpless; then sang in Nuremberg, Zürich, Dresden, and Hamburg; was a member of the Berlin Städtische Oper (1928–45; 1952–61), the Bavarian State Opera in Munich (1945–46; 1950–57), the Berlin State Opera (1948–52), and the Berlin Komische Oper (1952–61); also sang at the festivals in Bayreuth and Salzburg. He excelled in dramatic roles in Italian operas.
