Liška, Zdeněk
Liška, Zdeněk, Czech composer; b. Smečno, March 16, 1922; d. Prague, July 13, 1983. He studied at the Prague Cons., and beginning in 1945 was active as a composer for the State Studios of Documentary Films. For the Czech spectacle Laterna Magica, he wrote a modernistic violin concerto in which actors and musicians alternate with their screen images without loss of continuity. This work, first performed in Leningrad on Dec. 5,1960, was featured in the presentation of Laterna Magica in N.Y. in the summer of 1964.
