Ladurner, Ignace Antoine (François Xavier) (actually, Ignaz Anton Franz Xaver Joseph), Austrian pianist, teacher, and composer of Tirolean descent, brother of Joseph Aloix Ladurner; b. Aldein, near Bolzano, Aug. 1, 1766; d. Villain, near Massy, March 4, 1839. He studied with his uncle at the Benediktbeuren monastery, and succeeded his father as organist in Algund. After studies at the Lyceum Gregorianum in Munich, he became a pianist in the service of Countess Heimhausen in Longeville. In 1788 he settled in Paris, where he became active as a teacher. He taught piano at the Paris Cons. (1797–1802). In 1836 he settled in Villain. He wrote the operas Wenzel, ou Le Magistrat du peuple (Paris, April 10, 1793) and Les Vieux Fous, ou Plus de peur que de mal (Paris, Jan. 15 or 16, 1796), as well as 15 piano sonatas, 6 violin sonatas, variations, divertissements, etc.
