Fuchs, Joseph (Philip)

Fuchs, Joseph (Philip), American violinist and teacher, brother of Lillian Fuchs; b. N.Y., April 26, 1900. He studied violin with Kneisel at the Inst. of Musical Art in N.Y. He was concertmaster of the Cleveland Orch. (1926–40), making his N.Y. debut in 1943. He joined the faculty of the Juilliard School of Music in N.Y. in 1946. He toured Europe in 1954, South America in 1957, and Russia in 1965.
