Brelet, Gisèle (Jeanne Marie Noémie)

Brelet, Gisèle (Jeanne Marie Noémie), French musicologist and pianist; b. Fontenay-le-Comte, Vendée, March 6, 1915; d. Sèvres, June 21, 1973. She studied piano at the Nantes Cons, and at the Paris Cons., and also took courses in biology and philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris (Ph.D., 1949). In 1950 she became director of the Bibliothèque Internationale de Musicologie. She wrote the studies Esthétique et création musicale (Paris, 1947), Le Temps musical (Paris, 1949), and L’Interprétation créatrice (Paris, 1951).
