Brémond, François, French horn player and pedagogue; b. Nimes, Nov. 1, 1844; d. Houilles, near Paris, July 15, 1925. He studied at the Paris Cons, with J.-B. Mohr, winning a premier prix in 1869. From 1878 to 1888 he was principal horn of the Société des Concerts du Conservatoire in Paris; was also principal horn of the orch. at the Opéra-Comique. In 1891 he joined the faculty of the Paris Cons. He preferred to play the natural horn, and in later years took up the valve horn as well
