Auletta, Pietro
Auletta, Pietro, Italian composer; b. S. Angelo, Avellino, c. 1698; d. Naples, Sept. 1771. He studied at the Cons, of S. Onofrio in Naples; gained renown with his comic opera Orazio (Naples, Carnival 1737). Only a few of his stage works are extant, but La Locandiera (Naples, July 10, 1738) survives as a testimony to his abilities as a dramatic composer.
