The Victors ★★½ 1963

Anti-war drama follows Allied soldiers in Europe in the waning days of the war. The men's romantic endeavors with European women are intercut with images of the common brutality and chaos of war. The young ensemble cast, most of whom went on to stardom, do an excellent job, but the material gets a little heavy-handed at times. From the Alexander Baron novel “The Human Kind.” 156m/B George Peppard, George Hamilton, Eli Wallach, Vince Edwards, Jim Mitchum, Peter Fonda, Romy Schneider, Rosanna Schiaffino, Jeanne Moreau, Albert Finney, Elke Sommer, Michael Callan, Mervyn Johns, Melina Mercouri, Vanda Godsell, Patrick Jordan, Alf Kjellin, Albert Lieven, Peter Vaughan, Senta Berger, James Chase, Maurice Ronet; D: Carl Foreman; W: Carl Foreman; C: Christopher Challis; M: Sol Kaplan.
