Trust the Man
Trust the Man ★★ 2006 (R)
Relationship flick finds two Manhattan couples whining and dining in local eateries complaining about each other. Successful actress Rebecca (Moore, reallife wife of director Freundlich) is married to sexaddict stayathome dad Tom (Duchovny), and Elaine (Gyllenhaal) is an aspiring writer and livein girlfriend of Rebecca's brother Tobey (Crudup), a commitmentphobic but cute schlub. Everyone ponders the state of their unions while dabbling in infidelity and selfpity, and despite a few too many moments that are cloying, cliched, or contrived, the leads are good and make things watchable. Tom and Rebecca's two kids are played by Moore and Freundlich's real offspring. 103m/C DVD .
