The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement ★★ 2004 (G)

Princess Mia (Hathaway), still sweet and klutzy, is now a college grad and on her way to Genovia to live with grandma, Queen Clarisse (Andrews), and assume her royal duties. But Clarisse is being forced to abdicate, and ancient law dictates that Mia must marry before she can become queen and she only has 30 days to find a suitable royal consort. If she can't, sneaky Viscount Mabrey's (RhysDavies) plastichandsome nephew, Nicholas (Pine), is the next rightful heir. Nicholas tries to charm Mia while she dutifully agrees to marry affable British nobleman Andrew (Blue). Hathaway's a charmer, Andrews offers class and wisdom and gets to continue her discreet romance with suave security chief Joe (Elizondo), and Matarazzo returns as Mia's acerbic best friend. There's a little too much slapstick but it's all very nice and innocent, and little princesses should be enchanted once again. 120m/C VHS, DVD .
