The Parallax View ★★★½ 1974 (R)

Lee (Prentiss) was a witness to the assassination of a senator and is worried for her own safety, so she goes to newspaper reporter Joe Frady (Beatty) with her fears. He becomes suspicious after her alleged suicide and starts to investigate, discovering a mysterious corporation that hires assassins. As Joe digs deeper and deeper, he uncovers more than he bargained for and becomes a pawn in the conspirators' further plans. Beatty is excellent and the conspiracy is never less than believable. A lesser- known, compelling political thriller that deserves to be more widely seen. Based on the novel by Loren Singer. 102m/C VHS, DVD . Warren Beatty, Hume Cronyn, William Daniels, Paula Prentiss, Kenneth Mars, Bill McKinney, Anthony Zerbe, Walter McGinn, Kelly Thordsen; D: Alan J.
