Collier, Mary (c. 1690–c. 1762)

British poet. Born c. 1690 in England; died c. 1762.

Hoping to rise from poverty through writing, published 2 collections of poetry, The Woman's Labour: An Epistle to Mr. Stephen Duck (1739) and Poems on Several Occasions (1762), about the oppressive life of working-class women; remained a washerwoman for most of life.
