Rivulariaceae
Rivulariaceae An outdated phycological family of ‘blue-green algae’ in which genera (such as Fremyella and Rivularia) were distinguished on the basis of field characteristics which are lost or variable when the organisms are cultured in the laboratory. The organisms are now classified as cyanobacteria; all those with tapering trichomes and terminal heterocysts are included in the genus Calothrix.
