Myrmeciinae
Myrmeciinae (bulldog ants; suborder Apocrita, family Formicidae) Subfamily of primitive ants, which have one or two petiolar nodes, and a powerful sting. The workers are large and predatory, and usually inhabit soil nests. There are 120 species, most of which occur only in Australia.
