blastodisc
blastodisc (germinal disc) A disc-shaped layer of cytoplasm that is formed at the animal pole by the cleavage of a large, yolky egg (e.g. that of a bird or reptile). Mitosis within the blastodisc gives rise to the embryo and its membranes.
