FREUND, MARTIN
FREUND, MARTIN (1863–1920), German organic chemist, born in Neisse. Freund became professor at Akademie fuer Sozial-und Handelswissenschaften (1905) and was rector there (1907–09). He was appointed head of the Chemical Institute of the newly founded Frankfurt University (1914). Some of his synthetic products became therapeutic pharmaceuticals.
