Dādū Dayāl (c.1543–1603). A saint of N. India in the Sant tradition who composed poetry in Hindi. Dādū gathered a group of disciples about him who collected his poems together in a volume called Dāduvāṇi. These poems, some of which are intensely personal, speak of devotion (bhakti) to a God beyond qualities (nirguṇa) and the anguish of separation from God. His biography was written by Jan Gopal, Dādū Janam Līla, (c.1620).
