GENERAL CANADIAN. A term, especially in LINGUISTICS, for the usage of a majority of English-speaking Canadians (pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary), especially from Ontario to the Pacific, traditionally considered one of four major dialects of Canada but increasingly regarded as a class-based urban dialect used for broadcasting and as an educational norm.
