sundew Any insectivorous plant of the genus Drosera, native to temperate swamps and bogs. Sundews have hairy, basal leaves that glisten with a sticky, dew-like substance that attracts and traps insects. The leaves then fold over the insect, and secrete enzymes to digest it. Family Droseraceae.
