Helen L. Dewar Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship assistance to qualified graduating students from Hammarskjold, Hillcrest and St. Ignatius High Schools. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be from Hammerskfold High School, Hill-crest High School, or St. Ignatius High School; must have a minimum overall average of 80% in grade 12 credits; must be seeking full-time admission to a Canadian university that is accredited by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. Criteria: Nominees will be evaluated based on marks, community involvement, each of the three reference letters, and the response to the essay question.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. Number Awarded: 3. To Apply: Applicant must submit: completed application form (available online); three reference letters (one from a school source, one from extracurricular source, and one from the nominating committee/individual sponsoring their application for the scholarship); must submit all required documents to the Thunder Bay Community Foundation. Deadline: April 15.

Joshua Dyke Family Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship assistance to qualified graduating students from Dennis Franklin Cromarty, Ger-aldton Composite, La Verendrye, Lake Superior, Manitou-wadge, Marathon, and Nipigon-Red Rock District High Schools. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be from Sir Winston Churchill C&VI, St. Patrick High School or Westgate C&VI; must be in their graduating year of secondary school; must have a minimum overall average of 80% in grade 12 credits; must be seeking full-time admission to a Canadian university that is accredited by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. Criteria: Applicants will be evaluated based on marks, community involvement, each of the three reference letters, and the response to the essay question.

Marathon Pulp Inc. Education Achievement Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship assistance to graduating students who meet the requirements set out by Marathon Pulp Inc. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must have completed the last year of secondary school less than 12 months prior; must have obtained an average of 75% in the last two years of schooling; must be seeking admission on a full-time basis to a university that is a member or affiliated to a member of the Association of University and Colleges of Canada. Criteria: Application will be evaluated by the scholarship committee based on complete high school academic record as well as a confidential report from the student's school, letter of reference, and details of the applicant's involvement in nonsport activities, community activities, athletics and other special interests.

Funds Avail.: $6,000. To Apply: Information and application forms are available at Marathon High School Student Services or may be obtained by written request to the Thunder Bay Community Foundation. Application and other supporting documents must be sent to the Thunder Bay Community Foundation. Deadline: April 30.

John Alexander McLean Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship assistance to qualified graduating students from the Bachelor of Education program at Lakehead University. Focus: Education. Qualif.: Applicant must be in their final year before graduation from the Bachelor of Education program at Lakehead University; must be pursuing a career in education; must have a minimum overall average of 80% in all university credits. Criteria: Applicant will be evaluated based on marks, community involvement, each of the three reference letters, and the response to the essay question.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicant must submit: completed application form (available online); three reference letters (one from a school source, one from extracurricular source, and one from the nominating committee/individual sponsoring their application for the scholarship); must submit all required documents to the Thunder Bay Community Foundation. Geraldine Ruth Rogers Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
