To provide financial assistance to Canadian undergraduate students majoring in a field related to Ukrainian or Ukrainian Canadian studies.

Krysa Family Undergraduate Scholarship Area, Field, or Subject: Canadian studies; Education; European studies; Humanities; Social sciences; Ukrainian studies Level of Education for which Award is Granted: Four Year College Number Awarded: 1 each year. Funds Available: The maximum stipend is $C3,500. Duration: 8 months; nonrenewable.
Eligibility Requirements: This program is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents who are entering the final year of study for an undergraduate degree at a college or university in Canada. Applicants' programs must emphasize Ukrainian and/or Ukrainian Canadian studies, through a combination of Ukrainian and east European or Canadian courses in education, history, humanities, or the social sciences. Selection is based on overall academic record, performance in Ukrainian-content courses, a working sample, and community involvement. Deadline for Receipt: February of each year. Additional Information: Recipients may attend any Canadian university.

To provide financial assistance to individuals under the age of 19 who are interested in study or training in the Scottish performing arts.

Funds Available: The amount awarded depends upon the needs of the recipient and the funds available. Funds are paid directly to the individual or organization providing the training or education to the scholarship recipient. Duration: Up to 1 year.
Eligibility Requirements: This program is open to children, aged 18 or younger, who need financial assistance to support their education, training, or development in the Scottish performing arts. For the purposes of this program, these arts are defined as the traditional music or dance of Scotland as typically performed in competition at Scottish games and gatherings (including, but not restricted to, Scottish bagpipes, drumming, fiddle, harp, and Highland dance). Preference is given to members of the society and to their families. All applications must be submitted in writing and identify the applicant's name, the Scottish performing art for which the scholarship will be used, the person or organization providing the training or education, the dates or time period during which the training will occur, the cost of the training or education, and a brief explanation of why the applicant deserves the scholarship. Deadline for Receipt: Applications may be submitted at any time.

Eligibility Requirements: Students from any American college or university who have been accepted to participate in 1 of the off-campus programs sponsored by Drew University may apply for financial aid if the university's financial aid office determines that they meet the standards of financial need. Applicants for semester programs must be entering their junior or senior year and have a GPA of 2.7 or higher. Deadline for Receipt: April of each year for the fall semester; November of each year for the spring semester. Additional Information: The programs available recently included a Washington semester on American politics, a semester on the United Nations in New York, a New York semester on contemporary art and culture, a semester on the new Europe, a program in Eritrea on developing countries, and a London semester on British politics, history, drama, or literature.

Applicants must be California residents who are interested or involved in the Luso-American community and have taken or will enroll in Portuguese language classes. Selection is based on promise of success in college, financial need, qualities of leadership, vocational promise, and sincerity of purpose. Deadline for Receipt: February of each year.

Eligibility Requirements: This program is open to 1) U.S. citizens who reside in the mid-Atlantic region (defined as the District of Columbia and the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia); and 2) British subjects who were born in Scotland. Applicants must be enrolled full time as a junior, senior, or graduate student at a college or university in the United States or Scotland. The proposed course of study must contribute to their intellectual development and economic independence. Special attention is given to applicants whose study relates to Scottish history or culture. They must be able to demonstrate their Scottish descent and must submit a statement of their plans and goals. Financial need is considered in the selection process. Deadline for Receipt: April of each year.

Applicants may also propose to study in the United States, if the studies specifically emphasize Sweden and Swedish aspects, including 1) Swedish language; 2) Swedish culture or traditions; 3) environmental science; 4) a health care program promoting better health for women and children; or 5) handicraft, art, glass art, music, literature, or design. Study proposals must be well-defined in time and content. Along with their application, they must submit a transcript from college, university, or vocational school; curriculum vitae; project proposal, describing the planned studies, length of studies, and goals; financial statement; and letter of recommendation from an instructor. Deadline for Receipt: January of each year. Additional Information: Within 3 months after the end of studies or the project, the recipient must report to the scholarship committee or, if possible, accept an invitation to an organization meeting to share the experience.
