Scholarship Award of The Aliant Pioneer Volunteers (Postgraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to a person with vision lost while attending a post-secondary educational program. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Candidates must be aged 25 years or under; must have acuity of 20/70 or less with correction; must be a Canadian citizen residing in Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island; must be graduating from grade 12 during the application year (or be a high school graduate) and registered in a postsecondary educational program. Candidates may also be presently employed but returning to an educational program; must have a reasonable level of achievement and a genuine need for financial assistance. Criteria: Candidates will be selected based on the Selection Committee's review of the application materials. Priority is given to candidates with financial need.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form (available at the website); must submit two letters of reference: (1) educational letter of recommendation, and (2) personal or community letter of recommendation including contact information (address, telephone, fax and e-mail); letter of acceptance from post-secondary education institution; must provide a documentation about the candidate's visual acuity.
