Lorraine Allison Scholarships (Postgraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To advance the study of the North American and circumpolar Arctic through the natural and social sciences, the arts and humanities and to acquire, preserve and disseminate information on physical, environmental and social conditions in the North. Focus: Natural sciences; Social sciences. Qualif.: Applicants must be students enrolled at a Canadian university in a program of graduate study related to northern issues. Criteria: Candidates will be selected based on the selection committee's review of the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $3,000. To Apply: Applicant must provide a

two page description of the northern studies program and relevant project(s) being undertaken; must submit three letters of reference from the applicant's current or past professors; complete curriculum vitae with academic transcript and list of the current source and amounts of research funding, including scholarships, grants and bursaries. Jim Bourque Scholarships (Postgraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the mature and matriculating students in their studies. Focus: Environmental technology; Telecommunications systems. Qualif.: Applicants must be students who are enrolled or intend to take, post-secondary education in environmental studies, traditional knowledge or telecommunications. Criteria: Scholarships are given based on financial need, relevance of study and achievements.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a description of their intended program of study and the reason for their choice of program (500 words); a copy of the recent high school or college/university transcript; letter of recommendation from a community leader; a statement of financial need; and proof of enrollment to post-secondary institution.
