American Roentgen Ray Society Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)
Purpose: To support study in a field selected by the scholars to attain their professional career goals. Focus: Radiology. Qualif.: Applicants must have earned MD or DO from an accredited institution; completed all the required residency or fellowship training or equivalent; must be a full-time faculty appointment as a lecturer, instructor, assistant professor or equivalent for no more than five years beyond completion of training; be certified by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on competence and promise of the candidate in research, education or administration related to medical imaging, as indicated by the institution making the nomination and personal qualities of the candidate that indicate that he or she is a true scholar and leader with exceptional potential.
Funds Avail.: $140,000. Number Awarded: 2. To Apply: Applicants must submit a cover letter stating his or her address, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address, for use by the ARRS administrative office; a curriculum vitae; a three-page summary of the applicant's qualifications, goals and purpose of study; statements from the department and applicant regarding present interests in a specific area related to radiological sciences or education, and long-term scientific and professional objectives or aspirations as they may relate to his or her future career; statement from the Department Chair as to the department's commitment to provide time for the scholar to study, and a commitment ensuring his or her return to the faculty at the completion of the scholarship; and an estimated budget covering the scholar's program over the one- or two-year period. Deadline: November 5.

Purpose: To support study and research related to medical ethics, medico-legal principles, patient accountability, sensitivity to patient diversity and/or other topics encompassing medical professionalism. Focus: Bioethics. Qualif.:
Applicants must have an MD or DO from an accredited institution, or equivalent; have completed a radiology residency, and fellowship training where appropriate, or the equivalent; must be certified by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent; must be members of the ARRS at the time the application is submitted and for the duration of the award. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on competence and promise of the candidate in research, education or administration related to medical imaging, as indicated by the institution making the nomination and personal qualities of the candidate that indicate that he or she is a true scholar and leader with exceptional potential.
Funds Avail.: $100,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a cover letter from the applicant stating his or her address, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address, for use by the ARRS administrative office; a curriculum vitae including details of any other current or pending salary support; a three-page summary of the applicant's qualifications, goals and purpose of study; a description of course-work that will be undertaken; a listing of mentors, as appropriate to the proposal, and their contributions to the proposal; a letter of nomination from the Department Chair, or when applicable, the Radiology Group Director, and two additional letters of recommendation; and an estimated budget covering the scholar's program over the one- or two-year period. Deadline: November 5.
