AWARDS, HONORS: One Wide River to Cross, illustrated by Ed Emberley, received an Art Books for Children citation, Brooklyn Public Library, 1966, and was named a Caldecott Honor Book, American Library Association (ALA), 1967; Drummer Hoff, illustrated by Ed Emberley, won the Caldecott Medal, ALA, and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award, both 1968.
