Spani, Hina (real name, Higinia Tunon)
Spani, Hina (real name, Higinia Tunon), Argentine soprano; b. Puan, Feb. 15, 1896; d. Buenos Aires, July 11, 1969. She studied in Buenos Aires and Milan. She made her operatic debut at La Scala in Milan in 1915 as Anna in Catalani’s Loreley; also sang in Turin, Naples, and Parma; made many appearances at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires (1915–40). From 1946 she taught voice in Buenos Aires, and from 1952 served as director of the School of Music at the Univ. of Buenos Aires. She was highly regarded as a dramatic soprano; her repertoire included more than 70 roles.
