1. Infilling of the spandrel (6) of a medieval truss, to strengthen it.

2. One of several brackets, set in a vertical plane, fixed between one or more curves and the circumference of a circle set in a horizontal plane: it is used to construct cornices, coves, etc., for plasterer's work.
