Schlick, Barbara
Schlick, Barbara, admired German soprano; b. Würzburg, July 21, 1943. She studied at the Würzburg Hochschule für Musik, with Lohmann in Wiesbaden, and with Wesselmann in Essen. In 1966 she joined Adolf Scherbaum’s Baroque ensemble as a soloist, and began to sing widely in Europe. In 1972 she toured North America as soloist with Paul Kuentz and his chamber orch. In subsequent years, she appeared as a concert artist and established a strong reputation as an exponent of early music. From 1979 she also sang in Baroque and classical operas, appearing in Munich, Göttingen, Bern, St. Gallen, and Hamburg. She taught at the Würzburg Hochschule für Musik.
