Ros-Marbá, Antoni

Ros-Marbá, Antoni , Spanish conductor; b. Barcelona, April 2, 1937. He studied at the Barcelona Cons., and later with Celibidache at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and Martinon in Düsseldorf. After making his debut in Barcelona (1962), he conducted in Europe, the U.S., Mexico, and Israel. He was conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio Televisióon Española in Madrid (1966–68) and of the Orquesta Ciudad de Barcelona (1967–78). He was chief conductor of the Orquesta Nacional de España in Madrid (1979–81); served as principal conductor of the Netherlands Chamber Orch. (1979–85) and again as conductor of the Orquesta Ciudad de Barcelona (1981–86). In 1989 he became music director of the Teatro Real in Madrid.
