Ravenscroft, John , English composer; b. London, date unknown; d. e. 1708. In 1695 he was in Rome, where he publ. a set of “sonate a tre” under the Italianized name Giovanni Ravenscroft. He apparently was a pupil of Corelli, whose style he imitated. Also extant are his 6 da camera sonatas for 2 Violins and Basso Continue op. 2 (London, 1708).
