Pampani, Antonio Gaetano
Pampani, Antonio Gaetano, Italian composer; b. Modena, c. 1705; d. Urbino, Dec. 1775. He was a student of Salviati in Urbino. From 1726 to 1734 he was maestro di cappella at Fano Cathedral. He served as director of the chorus and orch. at the Ospedaletto orphanage in Venice from 1749 to 1764. In 1767 he was made maestro di cappella at Urbino Cathedral. He composed some 18 stage works, mainly opere serie (1730–68). Among his other works were various oratorios, solo motets, concertos, and sonatas.
