Königslöw, Johann Wilhelm Cornelius von, German organist and composer; b. Hamburg, March 16, 1745; d. Lübeck, May 14, 1833. He studied piano and voice with his father, and at 13 became a boy soprano in Lübeck’s Abendmusiken under A. Kenzen at the Marienkirche. Kenzen taught him organ, violin, and composition. Königslöw became his assistant (1772) and successor (1781), and also took over the direction of his Abendmusiken (1773), quickly establishing himself as a leading figure in the musical life of Hamburg. He wrote a number of oratorios, most of which are lost, as well as cantatas, orch. works, and keyboard music.
