Konink, Servaas de
Konink, Servaas de, Netherlands composer; b. place and date unknown; d. Amsterdam, between Dec. 9, 1717 and Feb. 28, 1718. He was a musician in the Amsterdam theater orch., and also active as a teacher. He was a principal figure in the development of opera in the Dutch language, his De vrijadje van Cloris en Rossje (Amsterdam, 1688) being a pioneering work. Among his other works were incidental music to Racine’s play Athalie (Amsterdam, 1697) and duo and trio sonatas.
