Harašta, Milan, Czech composer; b. Brno, Sept. 16, 1919; d. there, Aug. 29, 1946. He studied musicology at the Univ. of Brno before taking a course in composition with Kaprâl at the Brno Cons. (1938–42). His music, written in a forward-looking, post- Janáčcek style, included the opera Nikola šuhaj (1941–44), 3 syms. (the last unfinished), vocal music, and piano pieces.
