Gero, Jhan (Jehan)
Gero, Jhan (Jehan), Flemish composer who flourished in the 16th century. He was a fine madrigalist. He publ. 2 books of madrigals for 4 Voices (Venice, 1549), 2 books of madrigals for 3 Voices (Venice, 1553), and a book of madrigals for 2 Voices (Venice, 1541; modern ed. by S. Bernstein and J. Haar, N.Y., 1977). He also wrote motets. Gero was at one time confused with Johannes Callus.
