Fauchet, Paul Robert
Fauchet, Paul Robert, French composer; b. Paris, June 27, 1881; d. there, Nov. 12, 1937. He studied at the Paris Cons., where he later taught harmony. He also was maitre de chapelle of St.-Pierre de Chaillot in Paris. He wrote a number of sacred works, but is remembered mainly for his Symphonie for band, the earliest example of a classical sym. written for the medium (1936); its Scherzo is profusely enmeshed with whole-tone scales.
