Evans, David (Emlyn)
Evans, David (Emlyn), Welsh writer on music and composer; b. near Newcastle, Emlyn, Sept. 21, 1843;d. London, April 19, 1913. He was a student of John Roberts (1858). He won many prizes in the Eisteddfodau (Welsh music festivals), and also served as ed. of Y Gerddorfa (from 1872), Cronid y Cerddor (1880–83), and Y Cerddor (from 1889). He publ. a collection of 500 Welsh airs as Alawon Fy Ngwlad (2 vols., 1896), cantatas, anthems, glees, and part songs.
