Ehrenberg, Carl (Emil Theodor)

Ehrenberg, Carl (Emil Theodor), German conductor, teacher, and composer; b. Dresden, April 6, 1878; d. Munich, Feb. 26, 1962. He studied with Draeseke at the Dresden Cons. (1894–98). From 1898 he was engaged as a conductor in Germany; from 1909 to 1914 he conducted concerts in Lausanne, and from 1915 to 1918 he was first conductor at the Augsburg Opera; then conducted at the Berlin State Opera (1922–24). Subsequently he was a prof, at the Cologne Hochschule für Musik (1924–35) and at the Akademie der Tonkunst in Munich (1935–45).
