Cristoforeanu, Florica
Cristoforeanu, Florica , Romanian soprano; b. Rimnicu-Sarat, Aug. 16, 1887; d. Rio de Janeiro, March 1, 1960. She studied at the Milan Cons. with Filippi and Bodrilla; made her debut in Capodistria in 1908 as Lucia; then sang operetta in Bucharest and Milan (1909–19). From 1927 to 1932 she appeared at Milan’s La Scala; also sang in Rome (1928–34) and in South America. She retired in 1940. In addition to her classical roles, she was known for her performances of works by contemporary Italian composers.
