Critic's Choice ★★ 1963

Tedious adaptation of Ira Levin's insider play that's likely to only be appreciated by Ball and/or Hope fans. Angela Ballantine (Ball) is an aspiring playwright whose first effort is about to open on Broadway. And it's going to be reviewed by her theater critic husband, Parker (Hope), who would rather be doing anything else. Like having a few drinks with his consoling ex-wife Ivy (Maxwell). Parker stumbles into the theater, drunk and the center of unwelcome attention, especially from the current Mrs. Ballantine, who's not pleased. Edith Head did the costumes. 100m/C DVD . Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Marilyn Maxwell, Rip Torn, Jessie Royce Landis, John Dehner, Jim Backus, Rick Kelman, Marie Windsor, Joseph (Joe) Gallison, Richard Deacon, Jerome Cowan, Donald Losby, Soupy Sales; D: Don Weis; W: Jack Sher; C: Charles B(ryant) Lang Jr.; M: George Duning.
