Third in line to the Spanish throne, Princess Cristina married a Basque commoner in a 13th-century cathedral in Barcelona in October of 1997. It was the city's first royal wedding in over 600 years. The service was in Spanish, Catalan, and Basque. Her husband Inaki Urdangarin is a professional athlete.
