Berti, Giovanni Pietro
Berti, Giovanni Pietro, Italian singer, organist, and composer; d. Venice, 1638. He was a tenor in thechoir of S. Marco in Venice. He was named second organist there in 1624, and remained at that post until his death. His songs, particularly his strophic arias, are of considerable historical importance; 56 songs for solo voice and continuo are extant.
